ROWC Reprise

(Released December 19 2009) We are coming up on almost a year since we dropped our album “Rivers Old Growth and the Wizards Cloak” To all the fans who have downloaded/purchased and enjoyed our record, we are so thankful for your support. Currently over 1,000 copies of our record have been downloaded/purchased since we released it and I’ve had many great conversations with ya’ll about the album. We went into a small basement studio in Dogtown, Mo. (R and R Music Labs) with the intention of documenting the songs Messy had written over the past year or so. The band had been in a period of turmoil and had just reunited on stage for the first time in 5 months as “Blown Speakers” opening for Eoto at the Old Rock House. This recording and the year that followed has been an amazing ride for Messy Jiverson and we are humbled to have your support.
Here is a few fun facts and answers to some frequently asked questions about “Rivers Old Growth and The Wizards Cloak”

-yes, the record was recorded live in the studio and nothing was overdubbed or punched in. we did the whole thing in about 12 hours. In fact the drums are just two channels, kick drum and overhead mix (percussion and drum kit). Phil and Cannon performed amazingly to enable the quality of sound we got.

-the artist “ILL Phil” who is responsible for all the Messy art (the Head logo, dusted and busted, Takeover etc.) took the pictures for the front and back cover. After we finished the record we contacted him for potential album cover ideas, coincidentally he just taken a series of “druid cloak” pics, fate happens (i don’t believe that is him in the Cloak FYI).

-yes, there is a theme that flows through the tunes of the album. It is a loosely-based concept album about a Wizard who resides in the country yet travels to the city to work and party. you can fill in the holes from there.

new Messy Jiverson videos from iclips.net!!

Our friends at iclips.net have totally made an amazing video for the band and were also kind enough to broadcast it to the world for us LIVE when we opened up for LOTUS last month in Saint Louis MO at The Pageant.  Check out one of the clips here! ~~~>  Mess-Stacy 10.20.10 Saint Louis MO The Pageant

the joy of rice cooker

We just took the advice of someone who told us we need to be rolling with a rice cooker, and man was it worth it. Now we are rolling down the road eating fresh veggies and brown rice with plenty of Tapatio to spice it up. Many veggie dishes await. Do you have a good recipe for the messy train? Holler.

new music release from FIBER

Fiber, a band that was originally formed while I was attending Berklee College of Music in Boston in the year 1999, has released a new single titled Plane Crash.  The single was recorded and produced by Fiber and G.Koop in Oakland CA in the year 2005.  It is finally being released mainly due to it being featured in a short video piece on the Team Burton Snowboarding website.  Other tracks which have not been officially released but are really nice were also recorded during this recording session which included Corey Colmey on drums, Rob Mandell on guitar, Ben Wright on Bass, Edan on noise and bells, and myself on keyboards.  I’ll probably end up at least putting these up on my soundcloud site for listening.  Enjoy Plane Crash by FIBER!

synthia is a star e.p. (digi45)

These are a couple of ‘lost tracks’ I found on my external hard drive while searching random protools sessions that I had either hadn’t finished or straight up just abandoned for a while.  I found two that I really liked that I wanted to share as a digi45 release.  The first, Farfisa Scapes, is a two track recording of a Farfisa Professional Piano, and a Prophet synthesizer sequence I programmed.  The second, Zeldy Romp, features the same two synths along with a Moog, and a Roland Juno-106.  Enjoy a preview of the tracks at http://soundcloud.com/natecarpenter/sets/farfisa-scapes and stay tuned for the fully mastered versions currently in progress that will be available for download in the coming weeks.  Thanks for listening and thanks for your support!
