Euforquestra

Originally from Iowa City, IA, recently relocated to Fort Collins, CO, Eufórquestra has been touring more than ever and is continuing to take its cutting edge music in different directions. Their self-proclaimed “Afro-Caribbean-Barnyard-Funk” brings a rhythmic wall of sound, integrating such genres as Afrobeat, Reggae, Afro-Cuban, Samba, Soca, Funk, Salsa, and Dub. This is music that ignites dance floors across the country with a sound that “explodes, dances and melts in your ear with sheer bliss” (Chris M. Slawecki; www.allaboutjazz.com).

EOTO

EOTO (pronounced like Kyoto without the “K”) is an electronic jam band consisting of Jason Hann and Michael Travis (percussionist and drummer from the band The String Cheese Incident) make up this 100% improvised live Breakbeat/ House/ Drum n Bass/ Trip Hop project. Drawing from the ethos of some of the great DJ’s and computer artists of the world, they use cutting edge technology to create truly original and melodic dance music in the moment, with the undeniable power of live drums. The music is all created on the spot, recorded, then mixed and remixed LIVE to create an ever evolving musical experience. Since the project is 100% improvised, every night promises to be a unique dance experience. Hann and Travis play different roles in this band than in SCI. Jason plays the drum kit, percussion and sampler, while Travis is in charge of the tonal elements, playing bass, guitar, keyboards, as well as hand percussion and live mixing. Eoto is an acronym, standing for “End Of Time Observatory”

Kyle Hollingsworth

Today, as a member of acclaimed jam masters The String Cheese Incident, Hollingsworth is revered by both peers and fans for his ability to write and perform in a mosaic of styles, from rock to classical, ragtime to bebop. Playing in SCI has allowed him unrestricted access to the world of music, and has bestowed on him the kind of fearlessness a composer needs to flirt with such disparate genres. Those who’ve seen SCI know that they can jerk from funk to bluegrass on a chord change. “In the jam world, where there are no set ways of doing things, we’re not afraid to move in and out of genres,” he says, “and because of that I’ve learned to be creative, not only onstage but in the studio. I can get on board with something pretty quickly. You have to.”

Public Property

Rated on Jambase.com as one of the hardest touring bands in 2007…

“Public Property has a sound that is full-tilt reggae even though they don’t try to sing in fake patois and write original material that actually sounds original. Lots of syncopated rhythm breaks, bursts of pure groove and passionate musical interludes flesh out songs written by various band members . . .” “ The Beat Magazine”

Juno What?!

Juno What?! is America’s newest contribution to the late 70’s/early 80’s-inspired, high energy, funk-disco, synth bass, electronica genre.
A rising star in their field, Juno What?! is bringing their illuminated madness to every venue upon which they descend. Catalyzing dancefloors into sonic landscapes, Juno What?! is poised to take stages around the country to sternum bump its prey. A sound that is ahead of its time yet is steeped in a foundation of electro 80’s dance grooves with a healthy dose of progressive, booty-shaking themes.
This is a force to be reckoned with.
Featuring members of The Motet (Joey Porter: keyboards & talk box, Dave Watts: drums and samples), these accomplished musicians have gathered their collective talents and musical prowess to focus on this mission of making the world a better place…….to dance

Heatbox

If you could only hear Heatbox but not see him you wouldn’t know what the hell was going on. It sometimes sounds like there is an entire band playing a song, but no it is just one man and he isn’t even playing any instruments. Even when you CAN see Heatbox most people don’t really understand how the show is happening. That’s OK because Heatbox sings from the heart and after you are drawn in by the strangeness, you will stick around for the music.

Chicago Afrobeat Project

Afrobeat cannot stand still. As the genre’s tempting sounds continue a resurgence across the globe, Chicago Afrobeat Project (CAbP) remains true to its original vision of breathing the intensity of Chicago’s rich music scene into the infectious sounds of afrobeat. Rather than become caricatures of the genre, CAbP slips a reverent nod to the tradition while delivering an energized originality different from any other band on the afrobeat scene today. At each of its 100+ live performances a year, the group’s frenzied songs hit audiences with a big enough one-two punch to tirelessly knock them onto the dance floor time and time again.

Messy Jiverson

From the stacks of basement record collections and the soundtracks of 70’s and 80’s era cult films comes Messy Jiverson, a blast from the past that’s timelessly vintage, yet modernly applicable all in the same. Inspired by the sounds of dusty vinyl, dirty guitars, dangerous drum breaks and dynamic synthesizers, the band explores elements of funk, hip-hop, rock and soul in their completely original style. Heavily influenced by the loop digga movement and decades of musical history, Messy Jiverson is psychedelic rock with a hip-hop flair and hard dance beats.

Lubriphonic

The members of Lubriphonic have individually toured with artists as diverse as Koko Taylor, Buddy Miles,Otis Rush, The Ohio Players, Buddy Guy and Lenny Kravitz. They have fused their talents and experience as side-men in order to create an orignal project that is soulful, unique, and exciting.
Their two 2008 releases, “Soul Solution”  and “Lubriphonic Live” (the latter recorded live in a single set at aliveOne in Chicago) exemplify this. The recordings capture the band at it’s best– confident, daring, and very, very, funky.  Lubriphonic fuses old-school soul music with hip shaking rock’n’roll and searing improvisation.

Mountain Standard Time

Mention the phrase ‘mountain standard time’ and most likely people will immediately think of the time zone that covers the mid-western part of the United States. Ask anyone in the Front Range of Colorado and you’ll elicit a much different response. Since their chance meeting early in 2008, Mountain Standard Time has been imprinting their brand of “bluegrass” on the minds of their enthusiastic audiences. They call their music ‘non-linear aquatic gypsy-grass’, but it seems most people don’t care to dabble in symantics, they just want to keep on dancing!

Henhouse Prowlers

Henhouse Prowlers, the powerhouse Chicago string band quintet, perform their brand of innovative bluegrass for audiences all across the country. They describe their sound as “new traditional” noting that much of their material is new and original, yet it touches on classic bluegrass themes such as love, loss, work, regret and death. The Prowlers’ fresh, descriptive songs have been featured in the PBS series The Ride of Our Lives, and they have just released their second CD, A Dark Rumor, produced by Don Stiernberg with assistance from Greg Cahill.

MAXIMILIAN EUBANK

Hailing from Des Moines, Iowa, Maximilian Eubank writes a cross genre of Acoustic music, blending the sounds with a sense of Folk, Folk Rock, Anti-Folk, Acoustic Rock and Acoustic Alternative sensibility. With a commitment to melodies that are interesting and infectious, Maximilian embarked upon his musical passions at the tender age of fourteen. He ignited an Acoustic guitar band, Triple Vision, writing and creating the majority of the music and lyrics that comprised the trio’s sound. In a few years Triple Vision turned into a larger band, Euforia, of which he was the lead singer and rhythm guitar. These experiences led Maximilian to eventually moving to Colorado and defining his voice as a singer/songwriter on the music circuit. Maximilian’s lyrics and records tend to reflect an introspective point of view regarding lost and found love, systematic injustice, faith and the everyday hardships that effect life. In 2008, Maximilian compiled his years of experience into independently recording his debut LP, 10:00 in the Afternoon. The album spawned the success of quite a few standout singles.

Dead Larry

Mr. Babers Neighbors

The Solar String Band was established in the living room of Mr. Baber’s Neighbor with the intentions of nothing more than a good time. With the release of their self-titled album Mr. Baber’s Neighbors offers their own interpretation of the bluegrass experience.

Workshy

The Workshy is a five piece band form Ames, Iowa that is getting known for their incredibly energetic live shows, and lively musicianship. Their variety of influences, ranging from jazz, funk, bluegrass and blues as well as many others, combines to create an infectious blend of sounds, making for one of the most captivating and exciting shows around.

Uniphonics

An innovative jazz-funk infused hip-hop combined with passionate content driven lyrics, a dance party atmosphere resting on a tightly wound booty groove. Expect an interactive high energy performance that breaks the barrier between the musician and audience.

Dr. Z’s Experiment

Dr. Z’s Experiment describes their music best as, “A unique talent of the group is the ability to go into a free vocal jam at any time, switch instruments inside of a set, or make spontaneous segues from the middle or end of one song into another song, or something totally new,” states guitarist and lead vocalist Ryan Phelan. You can expect that these musicians will escape into a meditative internal state, a state in which they can hypnotize the audience with their devolving sounds. Dr. Z’s Experiment comprises the elements of jazz, reggae, Latin, funk, hip-hop, and Afro-beat.

Lick It Ticket

Lick it Ticket came to be during the fall semester at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) campus. Four music students had scheduling conflicts with the UNI jazz combo times. So, the students decided to form their own jazz “combo” with no credit. Without the influence of faculty, the combo soon became more of a band, with writing their own songs and arrangements, unlike your standard collegate jazz combo. A friend called the nameless-jazzish combo for a gig, and a name had to be given back on the spot. The first thing that came to bass player’s , Andrew Thoreen, head was “Lick it Ticket.” Since then these four musicians with classical and jazz training, took their influences from blues, bluegrass, jam, jazz, electronic and experimental to culminate the sound that Lick it Ticket has today.

Jim, Mary, Gabe and Mike are the proud family of Euforquestra drummer, steel pan and vibes artist Adam Grosso, who will join them for a fifth time at Camp Euforia.
